But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
John 4:14
I recall a question back when I was in primary school: what is more essential to life: water or electricity? At that time, I did not really ponder on the importance of this question until junior secondary when it came up again in Social Studies. While I am grateful for the seas, lakes, and rivers, running water is a blessing, for I use it to cook, wash, and bathe.
When I think of water now, I look back fondly at my baptism. Water cleanses and hydrates. It is the driving force of nature. Whenever someone asks how my skin looks good, I tell them that it’s the water’s doing.
So today, I am thankful for water. Just as God is essential to our spiritual being, so is water to our physical being.
