Against you, you only, have I sinned
and done what is evil in your sight;
so you are right in your verdict
and justified when you judge.
Psalm 51:4
Mistakes. I’ve made a lot of them and it’s like I couldn’t seem to avoid them. However, I’ve come to accept them and I’ve learned from them. When it comes to mistakes, I’ve learned:
* If a friend makes a mistake, do not cast stones for I’ve made mistakes, too, and we’re not entirely sin-free.
* I was reminded of my humanity. I’m not perfect in ways, only God is.
* Forgiveness is essential. If we want to heal and move on, we must forgive. To not forgive is the biggest mistake of all!
* It humbled me.
Today, I am thankful for the lessons that I’ve learned through making mistakes. I wouldn’t dare sugarcoat any of my mistakes and play the “but I’m only human” card for it only invites us to make more or revisit the same mistakes when we can avoid doing so.
