Day 32 of 366: thankful for eyesight

β€œThe eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light.

Matthew 6:22

Today, I was reminded of how blessed it is to have eyes to see. I remember facing the difficult question: if you could lose all your senses and keep one, which one will it be? I am thankful for all of my senses, but back then, my answer was eyes. I love seeing nature, people, and words to read.

Having eyesight is a blessing, and I am thankful that I can see, especially to read and study the Word. I am grateful for the spiritual eyes of the heart.

How much do you value the gift of blessed eyesight?

Day 9 of 366: thankful for glasses

Ears that hear and eyes that seeβ€” the LORD has made them both.

Proverbs 20:12

Β unable to see things clearly unless they are relatively close to the eyes.

Although I see pretty well, I am sort of short-sighted especially when it comes to people. Distant objects don’t usually appear blurred (thank God!) so there’s really no need to wear glasses outside. It’s kind of complicated, yes, but I don’t rely and need to rely on glasses. I don’t need it to read books, but I mostly wear them while using the laptop or when I used to watch TV mostly at night.

Glasses are not for the aged, the cool, or the smart ones. They’re visual aids meant to help the eyesight and I’m thankful for my pair.
